Sealines - an author exchange across six European port Cities

Welsh Literature Abroad is pleased to welcome three international authors to Cardiff for a month in June. Igor Likar from Slovenia, Juha Ruusuvori from Finland, and Janis Esbergs from Latvia will all be offered the opportunity to experience life in the Capital city, as they share an apartment in Queen's Street. They are the three successful applicants who competed for the residency as part of the Sealines project. Academi will be organising a range of literary events for them during their first week, including a trip to the Literature Festival in Hay, and a day in the Gower, in the company of the poet Robert Minhinnick. The authors have clear intentions for their creative work during their visit, and will exchange further ideas with each other, as well as collaborating with the local artist, Ffion Rhys.

From Wales, Tristan Hughes and Fflur Dafydd are currently in Helsinki, Finland, whilst Ian Davidson will be in Riga, Latvia, in August. The National Poet, Gwyneth Lewis, will be in warmer waters in Malta over the autumn. With these opportunities, Welsh authors should be able to benefit from meetings with international publishers, and consider avenues for the translation of their work.
