Literature Across Frontiers (LAF) was established by Mercator Institute for Media, Languages and Culture/Wales Literature Exchange in 2001.The network currently works with over 30 partners in Europe and worldwide. LAF is a programme of initiatives designed to enhance literary exchange and the work of organisations engaged in international promotion of literature and support for literary translation. Mosaic Publishers Network is a partnership of independent publishers in Europe committed to publishing literature in translation initially set up by Mercator Institute for Media, Languages and Culture/Wales Literature Exchange following its conference 'Mosaic: promoting literature across frontiers' in 1998. Sealines is an international residency exchange programme for writers and translators established by Literature Across Frontiers in 2005. Scritture Giovani was launched in 2002 by Festivaletteratura Mantova (Italy) to promote young European writers. One of its main partners is the Guardian Hay Festival (Wales). A Welsh writer has participated in the programme every year and their writing published, with the support of WLE, in a number of languages and distributed by illycaffè. Transcript, a Literature Across Frontiers publication, is an online review for books and writing in Europe published in English, French and German. Writers' Chain is a project created by Wales Arts International in partnership with British Council Northern Ireland and British Council Scotland, managed by Wales Literature Exchange. The aim of the project during its pilot stage (2008-9) is to facilitate literary exchange between Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and India, working in collaboration with the London Book Fair and the British Council's India 09 initiative. |
